The Mersey Hotel sits on the trans-pennine way and is currently under new ownership. A short walk along thew Victoria Promenade will bring the visitor to both the Catalyst Science Museum and Spike Island (recently featured in the film of the same name).

On Crossing The Runcorn Jubliee Bridge from the south, continue onto Queensway ( A557) . Branch left (sign posted Widnes( M62 EastWarrington) then immediately branch left again (sign posted Widnes South).On entering the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Hutchinson Street. At the following mini roundabout turn right onto Waterloo Road, heading towards the Catalyst Museum. After approx 300yds turn left into Upper Mersey Road(sign posted Catalyst Museum).Immediately when passing the Catalyst Museum turn left in to terrace roaf which leads in to St Marys Road.
